DAE stop using wire nuts on keypad pigtails after a callback in Tulsa?
Last month I had to drive back 40 minutes to a house in Tulsa because a keypad was acting flaky, and the whole thing traced back to a wire nut that looked fine but had loosened just enough on the pigtail to make the bus drop out when the door slammed. I had been twisting nuts like I always did, but the real fix was swapping to lever nuts on every splice inside the can. The lever nuts clamp down evenly and I can see the wire seated before I close it up, so no more guessing if it grabbed or just wrapped around the insulation. It sounds like a small thing, but I have not logged a single intermittent keypad since, and I did 9 panels in the last 3 weeks. The old nuts never failed outright, they just got loose over time, and loose is worse than dead because it wastes a whole afternoon chasing ghosts. Curious if any of you have switched over to lever nuts for your zone wiring too, or if you still trust a good twist and tape on the pigtails.
