Walked through the hangar at Falcon Field in Mesa and saw a gray tag on a 172, now I'm second guessing myself
Stopped by a shop over at Falcon Field in Mesa on my day off to drop off some paperwork, and I noticed one of their 172s sitting in the corner with a gray tag on the panel instead of red or green. Got me thinking about the whole green tag vs gray tag debate, some guys will sign off an inspection with a gray tag because the plane is airworthy but has a squawk list a mile long, and others say a gray tag is just a polite way of saying don't fly this thing until we finish up. I've always been a green means go or red means stop guy, and gray has never sat right with me. What do you all do when a bird is technically legal but you would not put your kid in it, gray tag it or just refuse to sign until it's right?
