Used to torque by feel for 6 years, now I use a $180 wrench on oil plugs
I have been turning wrenches at a shop outside Dallas since 2015 and for a long time I just snugged oil drain plugs down by hand, never had a comeback. Last month a guy came back with a drip on his F-150 and my lead pointed out I had crushed the crush washer flat, which cost the shop 1.5 hours of free work. Anybody else switch to a torque wrench on stuff like drain plugs after getting burned, or am I just being paranoid now?
