That senior A&P insisted my torque wrench was fine... cost me 3 hours redoing a panel
Had an old timer at the hangar tell me my torque wrench was "close enough" even though it hadn't been calibrated in 2 years. I trusted him because he's been doing this since the 80s. Popped 4 bolts off on a Piper wing root panel last Wednesday. Had to drill out the studs and install heli-coils in all of them. Has anyone else had a mentor's shortcut backfire this bad?

Read that new AC 43.13-1B update last week. Mandates calibration yearly now.

Did you frame the torque wrench as a souvenir yet? Sounds like it’s earned a spot on the wall as a “do not use” display piece.
