Shoutout to the lead hand at PDX who called out my torque check habit
Two months back a lead hand in Portland watched me torque a panel and asked if I was doing a second pass on purpose or just going through the motions. I was clicking once and moving on, and he pointed out that my wrench setting had drifted 4 inch-pounds off what the manual called for. Now I do a full 3-click pass and recheck the setting before each row, and it costs me maybe 6 extra minutes a panel. Half the guys on my crew say one clean click is enough and I'm just being slow, the other half swear by the triple pass. Where do you all land on this, and has a fellow mechanic ever called out a habit that ended up sticking with you?
