Found out rivet guns have a lifespan limit from a Navy buddy
I was chatting with a guy who worked on P-3 Orions for 15 years, and he told me rivet guns lose power after about 500,000 cycles. I always thought they just kept going until they broke. Anyone else ever track how many cycles your main gun has?

Read somewhere that the Ingersoll Rand 2115 is rated for around 500,000 cycles too, so that tracks with what your buddy said.

Hang on though, aren't those cycle ratings always tested in perfect lab conditions with clean air? My experience with the 2115 was nothing like that, it died on me around 80,000 cycles in a dusty shop. And I've heard from a few guys who work on assembly lines that they burn out way faster when you're actually using them all day, every day. Like, the trigger mechanism gets sloppy and starts sticking around the 200k mark. So I wouldn't bank on that 500,000 number, it feels like marketing talk more than real-world data.
