Found out 70% of torque wrench calibrations are off right from the factory

Just got my torque wrench back from calibration. The tech showed me the report. It was reading 15% low on some settings. He said most new wrenches aren't checked before they hit the floor. Made me wonder how many bolts I've got flying around that are barely tight enough. Anyone else ever get a shock from a calibration report?

Honestly this is just the tip of the iceberg. I've noticed the same pattern with tape measures, levels, and even those little bubble levels on drill attachments. Nobody checks anything from the factory anymore, it's like they just stamp "close enough" on it and ship it out. My buddy bought a brand new 25 foot tape measure last month and it was already 1/8 inch off at the 10 foot mark. So yeah, your torque wrench being off is probably more common than people want to admit. It makes you wonder what else we're all just trusting blindly.

Bet it's worse on the cheaper stuff, the good brands probably still check theirs.
