Can we talk about how torque wrenches went from dial to click and what we lost
I was working a King Air nose gear last Tuesday and a young A&P next to me asked why I still have an old dial type torque wrench in my box when click types are quicker. I got to thinking about how my first shop in Wichita in the early 90s had nothing but dials and a beam wrench, and you actually watched the needle creep up to spec instead of guessing where the click hits. Do you trust a click on a 40 inch pound spec anymore, or do you still grab the dial when it really matters?
