Blew an LPT cable on a 737 in Orlando yesterday and it was my own fault

I was in a hurry on a gate return, tucked the cable bracket in wrong and it got pinched during power up. Snapped the LPT shield right off the connector, now the plane is down for a new cable assembly. Anybody else ever wreck something expensive trying to beat the clock?

Been there with a similar mistake on an Airbus a few years back. I used to think skipping the final double check saved me precious minutes, but that cable replacement cost me two days of downtime and a lot of explaining. Now I always walk the whole route one more time, even if the gate agents are staring at me. The short term rush just isn't worth the long headache.

Two full days of downtime for one cable replacement? Sounds like your shop is either way too strict or you're working with some fragile equipment. Was it really that bad or did management just make a big deal out of it?
