A passenger saw my toolbox and asked the weirdest question

Last Tuesday I was finishing up a brake job on a CRJ at the hangar in Boise when a pilot walking by stopped to watch. He asked if I ever got bored doing the same checks over and over, like every day was just copy paste. I told him about the time a tiny hairline crack in a wheel hub showed up only because I decided to wipe it down one extra time with a rag. That conversation made me think about how much of this job is catching nothing, and then suddenly catching something that matters. Has anyone else had a moment where an outsider's comment made you look at your own routine differently?
