Shoutout to the AI that wrote a full page of nonsense about my local hardware store

I was testing a new text generator for a project yesterday. I gave it a simple prompt about a small business in my town, Springfield. It wrote a whole paragraph, but every single fact was wrong. It said the store sold things they never have, and it made up a fake owner's name. I had to scrap the entire output and start over. Has anyone else had a model just completely invent details like this?

My last attempt had a chatbot insisting my local diner was famous for its sushi bar and axe throwing league. The place has never served a single piece of raw fish, and the only thing they throw out is the day old pie. It described the owner, Frank, as a former marine biologist. Frank is a retired bus driver who is scared of the ocean.

I had a bot invent a whole history for my old apartment building once. What finally worked was giving it a very simple, bullet point style list of just the facts before asking my real question. Like "This building was built in 1980. It has 12 units. The landlord's name is Bob." It seems to need that anchor to stop making stuff up.
