Saw a stat that only 2% of companies track what their AI models cost them, and I can't stop thinking about it
I read a report last Tuesday from a cloud cost firm saying most firms have no clue what they spend per AI call, and it made me wonder how many of those surprise bills are quietly piling up for small shops like mine.
My favorite part of that stat is knowing I'd be right there in the 98% if I ran a company. Like, I've got a little side project and I genuinely could not tell you what each call costs, not even a rough guess. It's probably pennies, but "probably pennies" is how you end up with a $300 bill and a confused look at your bank app. I'd be the guy sitting there with a spreadsheet full of question marks trying to reverse engineer my own spending.
