My grocery store chatbot gave me a recipe for expired milk
I was at the self checkout in a Denver Safeway last week, scanning a carton of milk that was actually 2 days past the sell by date. The store's AI assistant popped up on the screen and suggested I make a 'creamy mushroom soup' with it. Has anyone else had an AI recommend something that clearly wasn't safe?

My Safeway in Portland had a similar glitch where the screen suggested using expired heavy cream to make "quick butter" last month. Makes me wonder if these chatbots are just pulling from some generic database without checking dates at all.

My friend in Seattle had the same thing happen at a Fred Meyer kiosk. It told her to turn some wilted celery and a half-empty jar of pickle juice into "quick refrigerator pickles" that would "last for months." She looked at the celery and it was literally slimy, like dripping wet slime. The bot didn't even ask about the sell-by date on the pickle juice either, it just assumed everything was fine. Makes you wonder if these things are even looking at the same products we are.
